"Bolt" is a humorous animated film about a dog who mistakenly believes he has superpowers. It also sends a message about friendship, perseverance, and the power of self-belief. While superheroes on TV aren't real, the canine star Bolt (John Travolta) has been raised to believe he possesses superpowers. Completely devoted to his human co-star Penny (Miley Cyrus), Bolt sets out on an adventure when Penny is captured by the evil Dr. Calico (Malcolm McDowell) during a TV episode, and Bolt accidentally gets loose in the real world. However, he soon realizes that his super powers are ineffective and learns about the power-stealing effects of Styrofoam packing peanuts. Along the way, Bolt is accompanied by alley cat Mittens (Susie Essman) and star-struck hamster Rhino (Mark Walton) as they journey across the United States to rescue Penny and prove the true bond between them. In the end, the trio learns the power of believing in oneself and one's friends.

Some theaters showed "Bolt" in Real-D 3-D, which enhances the movie experience with nice effects, but the film is equally enjoyable in the traditional format. With a positive message and a healthy dose of cuteness, "Bolt" is great entertainment for the whole family. - Tami Horiuchi
