In response to the surprise of the Wehrmacht by the heavier Soviet tanks, the Tiger was quickly deployed on the Russian front. Its intimidating appearance, with a massive square body and rounded turret, struck fear into enemy tankers. The armor, made of quality steel and tremendously thick, made the Tiger largely invulnerable to anti-tank fire, at least from the front. Its 88mm gun was a deadly weapon, effective against enemy tanks up to three kilometers away, and could also fire a lethal high explosive shell. Despite its 52-ton weight, the Tiger's broad tracks ensured reasonable cross-country performance, although it was sluggish. Crews were specially trained, as the Tiger was expensive to build and maintain. A well-trained veteran crew of five men could take on several enemy tanks with a reasonable chance of defeating them all, with little danger to the crew or tank. Tigers were typically formed into separate heavy tank battalions and deployed by high command where they were most needed, their presence often enough to tip the balance in that sector. Although they were too little and too late for the allies, some Tiger commanders, such as Otto Carius and the legendary Michael Wittmann, achieved astounding tallies of allied tanks and guns. The product comes with a plastic crewman model as well as decals for authentic markings. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and does not include glue and paints. Recreate World War II combat on a tabletop using dice, model troops, tanks, and rules constructed by Bolt Action against one or more opponents. Each opposing side will also require painted model troops, representing the soldiers, guns, and tanks of your chosen armies. Tabletop encounters take place according to twelve closely defined battle scenarios that explain how forces are deployed and how victory is achieved. Players will pit their wits against each other as they enact just one small part of one of the greatest conflicts in history—World War II. The construction and painting of the models, as well as watching them come to life, are just as enjoyable as the game itself! Build, paint and play!
